THE PIE TEAM

  • Carolynn

Carolynn joined us very soon after opening the new bakery and is a pastry chef who graduated from culinary school in Chicago. She has brought us her incredible talent for decorating, pastry knowledge, and is one of the kindest humans you will ever meet. She brings us great ideas for our new recipes to try and works with Jocelyn on the cream team.

  • Jocelyn

Jocelyn is our General Manager, proud mother of three children and pulls it all off with grace and a smile. She keeps us all in line around here and we would not run this place without her. She and Carolynn run the cream team, whipping up unthinkable deliciousness. We are all amazed by Jocelyn’s ability to work so hard and laugh herself silly at the same time.

  • Suzanne

Suzanne lives in Underhill with her large animal family, where she owns and passionately runs Poorhouse Pies.

With over 20 years of experience in the restaurant and catering industry, she took over this little local craft and turned it into her passion project. With the help of talented local bakers and chefs, she built a new bakery, expanded the concept and added a catering company. The pie shop reflects her vision, and is filled with love, laughter, and the most delicious food!!!

  • Paul

Paul comes to the pie world from a long history working in some great local restaurants such as Jericho Cafe & Tavern, Th Reservoir, and The Bench. His culinary skills are a huge assets in running the savory department and his infectious laugh and positive attitude fit right into this fun loving crew.

  • Wendy

Wendy is a semi-retired ICU nurse, and she a true red head! Sassy!!! OMG. She loves to blast her music and put the bakery back in order after our pie production has cycloned through. I am not sure what she and Dee are up to here, but it looks dangerous! Our bakery shines because of this power house; literally!

  • Jon

Jon, aka husband, is the man responsible for the beautiful bakery that we are blessed to have. He fixes every machine, built us a walk-in cooler, makes donuts, plows the snow, and keeps his wife happy and able to make pie. There would be no Poorhouse Pies without this incredible man. Need a job done?

  • Annie

Annie’s years of experience in the pizza world has crossed over well into pie. She works with Paul on the savory team and is always upbeat and ready to jump in anywhere she can. Her knowledge and love of gardening is coming in handy as well and she is helping tend to the flower gardens around the pie shop. She is such a joy to be around.

  • Ryan

Ryan comes in twice weekly to keep us up on all of our pie boxes. He stamps, stickers, and loves to jam out to music. He brightens up our days with his high energy and bright smile.

  • Nicky B

Nicky B, as we fondly call this amazing man, has been a chef for decades. He graduated from NECI and is the head of our catering team. He executes every event seamlessly and his skills and great attitude are appreciated by everyone. With a growing catering team, we are fortunate to have Nick at the helm.

  • Surinda

Surinda works with Paul and Annie on the savory team and also is one of the donut decorating queens. She is probably the calmest person at the bakery and brings us all a sense of well being no matter how crazy pie land can be. She is an Ayurvedic practitioner and massage therapist.

  • Jonny G

We are pretty sure Jonny G comes to work just to give us all a hard time! He is so darn funny and such a joy to have in the kitchen. Although we loose him to golf for the summers, we will enjoy him while we can and hope he returns after he is done chasing the little white ball around.

  • Addison

Addison has joined our dough team and is finding he fits right in with our crew. He comes to us from the restaurant industry and is currently exploring his artistic passions in screen printing. His eye for detail is appreciated and his experience is a welcome addition.

  • Kariella

Kariella helps out the dough team and the donut team on Sundays. She can also be found driving pie around Vermont to deliver to weddings for us. Her computer genius mind comes in pretty handy too.

  • Erica

Erica joined us recently and immediately became our pace car on espresso! She is fast, efficient, organized, and very skilled. She has enough energy to power a small village, which is very appreciated on those sluggish mornings. She is a joy to have around the kitchen and keeps us all organized. We are fortunate this woman joined us. She is also a proud mom of two and loves to tell stories about her kiddos.

  • Alyssa

Alyssa, a MMU grad is now in college on her way to nursing school. She has impressed all of us with her ability to learn so quickly and although she is very soft spoken, (unlike the rest of us loud mouths), she is very determined to conquer just about anything we throw at her. She is a remarkable young lady! She works on holidays and summers for now.

  • Tristan

Tristan baked at Costco for nearly 10 years and brings with him a hustle that puts most of us to shame. He is professional, focused, and just makes everything look easy! He likes to sing to us sometimes and tell us stories of fatherhood. He runs our fruit department and his pies are absolutely beautiful! His lighthearted kindness is contagious and we are very grateful his path led him to us.

  • John

Coming to us from the hills of Lake County California, John was the Sous Chef at Okemo Mountain and has worked in various kitchens building his skills.  He has moved to Underhill with his partner and has taken to our pie world quickly and we are very happy he joined our team.

  • Jack

Jack is our new Zen leader and brings calm to even our most hectic days.  Jack is a fine gardener by trade and while he builds his local clientele, is helping us out working on the dough team and sprucing up our gardens.  He has a great eye for detail and loves to clean, which makes him everyone's favorite!
